The Hope-Hop Workshop
Creatively Conquering Cancer

The HOPE-HOP Workshop Mission
Hope manifested through creativity
Designed for individuals, institutions, foundations, hospitals and corporations, the HOPE-HOP Workshop is a program which encourages participants to find hope and inspiration within their own creative spirit when faced with a cancer diagnosis and the subsequent treatment.
Jesse visits hospitals and foundations across the country, bringing with him a portable recording studio. He engages children, adolescents and young adults in the basics of recording original beats and poetry, demonstrating how music can provide a much needed outlet for the emotions which accompany this ultimate challenge. He notes their words and records their voices. Jesse then creates a "cancer anthem" --a song which embodies the core identity of both the cancer warriors who participated and the organization that facilitated the Workshop. Each participant gets his / her own copy of the anthem on a cd and in digital mp3 form for their ipods.

The first Hope-Hop Workshop took place at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego in July of 2012 with a group called SOMBFAB (Some Of My Best Friends Are Bald). Below is a video highlight reel of the event, a testimonial from Amy Schneider (founder and director of SOMBFAB) and "The SOMBFAB Anthem" featuring the SOMBFAB All Stars.
